Snowshill and Saying Goodbye to Ilmington

Kay wanted to visit Snowshill Manor.  After we spent most of the morning finishing up as much laundry and packing as we could get done, we headed to Snowshill.  It was very overcast and the weather forecast was predicting rain...but then it was always predicting rain so we went anyway.  We got there and since this was a National Trust property our membership cards got us in yet again.  The lady who checked us in chatted us up about where we were from and what we had done since arriving.  It was quite the hike to the Manor House but Kay was able to see the sheep so she was happy.  This house was different than any we had been in and verged on being really creepy.  Mr. Wade, the owner was an artistic chap and very good at it but he had a passion for collecting things that verged on hoarding....weird, weird things and rooms full of them while the house itself was really bare bones compared to others we have seen. I really quit taking pictures of most of it because it was so dark in there you could hardly see as well.   He did have a collection of musical instruments that I thought the kids would enjoy seeing but other than that, hmmmmm.....creepy!

More Latin...

This is a small sampling of the weird rooms and things in this house

Toys

A room full of clocks

A room packed full of looms like this

In Latin Lindsay for you to translate

We had lunch in the tea room there then we went to the Tesco in Evesham that we went to the first day we were here.  We did however, go a different way and diverted a few times to drive through some of the villages we passed along the way that we didn't have time to explore.  We bought some things for dinner and Kay bought a potholder to replace one she burned in the oven a couple weeks ago so we had it covered and headed home.  We had bought some note paper to write thank you notes to a few people included some of the people we had met the day before at the church that included the sweet man who wrote us a the note below and left it at the cottage for us.  We got that done and then delivered them to the respective mail slots and headed home to finish packing and have dinner.

After much stressing and rearranging of all luggage, weighing, rearranging and more weighing we determined that we had way too much stuff.  I was able to check two bags with KLM but because Kay bought her ticket differently than I did she had to pay so could only check one.  We finally gave up, had some wine and dinner, showered and went to bed hoping somehow in the morning it will all somehow work out.

I'm not so sure this day ended with a well done us but we are both very sad that we are leaving...oh and as soon as we were leaving Snowshill today it started to rain and has rained the rest of the day.
