Whatever the reason neither of us slept very well last night. We were a bit slow getting moving this morning. I got up and showered, then wrote the blog from yesterday. We were going to fix breakfast but found we were out of just about everything. We used up what little we had and got ready to head out do get things done today. I lost one of the nose pads from my glasses a few days ago. We found an optician in Broadway when we were there but they were too busy to fix it and said to come back today. We needed to get some groceries and Kay had lost her set of the cottage keys. Felicity told us where we could get them remade from my set which was in Stratford. We headed out and came to the grocery store first. Through miscommunication we wound up bringing the groceries home and going back to Stratford to see about the keys.
We pulled into town and found an empty space in front of the McDonalds Dave. The meter man was busy putting tickets on cars whose time had expired...parking here is only one hour. We put in the money and put the ticket on the car dash and headed off to the corner where Felicity told us we could replace the keys. Around the corner from them was a vision express store. We dropped the keys and ran around to the optical place and they said they would fix them and to come back in 15 minutes. We have been trying to find a bakery that had a cake like the piece that Kay had a Blenheim and we haven't had any luck so the quest continues. We found a bakery down the street and they sent us somewhere else, we went back to get the keys which were finished then walked around and my glasses were finished (no charge...how nice), then we headed down the block to another store and then across the street to Huffkins Bakery. The lady in there was funny and we didn't leave with the cake we were looking for but did find a bunch of other things. We got all that done with 15 minutes to spare!
We wanted to go back to the Old Thatch Tavern where we had dinner on Sunday because the food was good and it was reasonable. We couldn't find a place to park for more than an hour so we had to find a car park. We found one at the train station a few blocks up and had a great lasagna for dinner. We got back home and I needed to finish up some laundry and Kay went for a walk to check on the lambs. Tomorrow the cleaning lady comes again so we will need to be out of the cottage. We are hoping the weather will ease up but now they have actually said it is going to rain. It has actually gotten much colder today and they say we could get snow in the morning...hmmmmm.
Kay and I were discussing the drivers and how polite they are so now Kay is also giving what I refer to as the "Bernie Wave". It is like Weekend at Bernie's when they tied a rope on his hand and would pull on it to make him wave to people. We just laugh and laugh every time she does it. No pictures today because I didn't take any!
Tonight we are going to watch a movie and more Downton I'm sure. Another day done...well done us!
You are on vacation (isn't it called holiday over there?) so sleep in, rest, take it easy! You deserve a few slow-start days.
